Commuters seething as King's Cross station EVACUATED due to rush hour OVERCROWDING

Furious passengers reported scenes of chaos at the major railway hub after everyone was ordered to evacuate during this morning's rush hour due to chronic overcrowding.


People were left seething that the turmoil had left them late for work, with many saying they were not informed of the closure until it was too late to change their travel plans

London Liverpool Street Evacuation Over False Fire Alarm Causes Commuter Panic

Panic and confusion broke out at one of Britain's busiest transport hubs Tuesday morning after a false fire alarm forced the evacuation of Liverpool St Station in London.


Commuters described a "scary experience" at the station, which carries some 63 million passengers a year, revealing heightened fears among passengers in the wake of the Leytonstone Tube attack

Evacuation of London plan drawn up

Plans have been drawn up by the Government for a mass evacuation of London in the event of a terrorist attack, according to reports.

Leaked documents are said to detail how residents could be herded into "rest and reception areas" in the Home Counties in the event of an actual or imminent attack.

The confidential plan, code-named Operation Sassoon, was presented to the London Resilience Forum at the Cabinet Office in July, according to The Sunday Times.

New airline hoist could make the going easier

MANCHESTER Airport is to trial a new hoist that helps wheelchair users transfer to aircraft seats.


The Eagle hoist, developed by Australian company, Haycomp, can be used in main line commercial jets with 3-seats each side and wide body aircraft.

More than 1,200 people were evacuated from the O2 Arena in London due to a fire at a restaurant.

London Fire Brigade said it was called to the arena on Millennium Way, Greenwich, at about 11:15 BST. About 21 firefighters tackled the blaze, which was contained to the restaurant's extraction system. Station Manager Martin Freeman said: "It did create a lot of smoke and so security staff evacuated people from arena. There were no injuries." At the time Julie Price tweeted: "At O2 for Elvis exhibition but can't go in as its on fire."The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Extensive fire forces Tarland care home evacuation

Dozens of residents have been evacuated from a care home in Aberdeenshire after a large fire broke out.

Firefighters were called to Alastrean House in Tarland, near Aboyne, at about 15:50 on Saturday. A total of 38 residents were evacuated by staff and re-housed in a separate wing of the building. Nine fire crews attended the blaze which was described as "quite extensive". The flames were extinguished by 20:00. No-one was injured.

Hundreds of guests evacuated from downtown hotel

Hundreds of people were evacuated from a downtown high-rise on New Year's morning because of the possibility of a fire. It happened just after 3 a.m. at Plaza Towers, which houses apartments and condominiums and is attached to the Courtyard by Marriott (GRAND RAPIDS, Mich USA).

DUBAI (Reuters) - A small fire broke out a Dubai hotel on Monday, forcing guests and staff to leave, in the third such blaze in the United Arab Emirates tourism and trade hub in less than a week.Several fire engines and an ambulance were deployed at the Movenpick hotel near the Marina district as scores of people gathered outside.

A video of the hotel posted on social media showed thin clouds of smoke wafting around a lower floor.The hotel said on its official Twitter account that the fire was "swiftly brought under control and guests and staff were safely evacuated."

Civil defense workers gave the all-clear for people to return inside and there were no reports of injuries.A blaze shot up the side of a nearby residential tower on Friday, and local media reported that a smaller fire was quickly put out at a neighboring building on Sunday. No injuries were reported in either of those fires.The series of fires in tall buildings in the UAE has revived questions about the safety of cladding materials used in the Gulf region and beyond.
